I have been loving the my treadmill runs this winter and having been running hard for me.  Today I ran 5 miles in 43:20.  My question to you “Do you really need to increase the incline on the treadmill when working on speed?  A running friend (Mike) swears I’m not getting a good run in if I don’t put the treadmill on a little incline.
Happy birthday Courtney! (above left) Glad you aren’t in my age group  anymore Miss Speedy!

Ran the hilly Fox Trot in Elgin yesterday morning.  26:26 was my time which was more than 30 seconds slower than my 5k last weekend. :(  At least my running group all looked great in our new running shirts!
Now, I need to find motivation to run long runs and get moving faster during my shorter runs.  Hoping for a better week of running and a 5k time back in the 25 minute range next weekend.

Team Combat-Round 4.  I started team combat when the twins were 4 months old.  Squats were hard, running wasn’t easy, and I couldn’t do a push-up to save my life.
Now, Steele and Harrison are 9 months old.  I am 19 pounds lighter and my body fat has gone from 36 to 20!  I can run again, do push-ups(girl ones, but working towards real ones) and I even told Jake (our trainer) that I think squats are easy now.
During this 8 week session, I vow to lose 5 pounds, 3 percent body fat, and run a 5k somewhere in the 25 minute range.  Having a weekly check keeps me motivated and on track to where I want to be!

Today I felt like a true runner-running an 8:38 pace for 5 miles at Cinco de Miler in downtown Chicago.  The temps were perfect, the course a little crowded, but overall a fun, great time!  I feel like I am finally getting back into shape and ready for a great summer of running!

I'm here to lead by example.
